Sorrida Salon

Michelle founded Sorrida Salon in 2012 after starting out with bridal design as a hobby. The company now focuses on onsite beauty services, sending its artists to the location a client chooses for hair and makeup on the day, or welcoming clients to the salon office to get ready.

Seattle and Eastside bookings, including Mercer Island, Bellevue, Kirkland, Issaquah and Newcastle, carry no travel fee. Locations outside those areas have a travel fee, and tolls, ferry crossings or overnight stays may add cost.

Bridal packages bundle wedding-day hair and makeup with extras such as a trial, eyelashes or a touch-up kit for the evening. Packages for bridesmaids, mothers, flower girls, and engagement or boudoir photo sessions are also offered. Trials are usually booked about a month before the wedding, after the dress fitting, and most take place Monday through Thursday starting between 10am and 1pm. Weekend availability is limited because of weddings.

Prices exclude gratuity, and a typical tip is between 18% and 25%. The salon has a pricing minimum, so clients are asked to contact the salon for it. Listed prices reflect 2021 and 2022 rates, so confirm current pricing before booking. Events with ten services or fewer, where hair and makeup count as separate services, are staffed with two stylists; events over ten services get three. Adding stylists carries a 25% auto-gratuity, and two additional stylists also add 10% to base prices. Artists are assigned by availability unless a client asks for a specific artist. Events of any size are welcome, and all major credit cards are accepted.

Sorrida hires part-time hair and makeup artists who specialize in bridal styling, and new hires receive training in their first part of employment. Applicants need a cosmetology license and apply by emailing a resume, a short introduction and photos of their work. The salon also offers an externship for students at Gene Juarez Academy covering the last 80 hours of schooling. Students nearing 1520 hours of schooling are asked to email their details to arrange a schedule.
