Sonya Salon was founded in 2013 by owner Tanya Kaplun, who worked behind the chair for 22 years before opening her own business. The salon is named after her great-grandmother Sonya, who was also a hairdresser.

Gift cards can be bought on the website. The salon also takes part each year in Bordentown's citywide scarecrow competition.
