Sola Salons

Sola Salons is a company that leases studio suites to self-employed beauty and wellness professionals instead of employing them. Each location is an independently owned and operated franchise, so the day-to-day running of a site, including its access hours, rests with its local owner. The Flourtown studio sits in the Flourtown Shopping Center beside a movie theater, and the other listed sites are in Plymouth Meeting, Horsham, Wynnewood, King of Prussia and Wayne.

Renters pick a studio of one of several sizes, and the suites are offered move-in ready. Each studio comes with a styling chair, a shampoo bowl, full-spectrum lighting and its own glass door with an individual lock and key. Utilities and Wi-Fi are covered by a single weekly fee, and the building offers on-site laundry, a breakroom, bathroom facilities, janitorial service and 24/7 security.

New renters receive a start-up manual with forms, tips and guidance on applying for a salon license and other licenses and permits. Setup help covers insurance, equipment and paint choices, credit card processing, and retail support, with distributor contacts available. Members can also get liability insurance, and disability insurance where it is offered in their area.

Community is part of the offer. Members receive discounts on retail purchases, special offers for online scheduling, continuing education programs and industry events. The company also hosts gatherings for local renters, such as cocktail parties and family picnics.

The company describes its mission as giving beauty and wellness professionals convenient salon rental space, and it presents leasing a suite as an alternative to working at a traditional salon. Renters may sell retail products of their own choosing and keep all of the profit. The company states it has more than 20,000 independent business owners in its community and over 750 locations nationwide.

Sola rents private, self-managed studios so that independent professionals can run their own businesses rather than work as employees of a traditional salon.

Each studio is a private, lockable room with full-spectrum lighting.
