Sola Salons Carmel Valley

Sola Salons is a salon suite rental business. Its studios are set up so that renters can open their own business, whether they cut hair, do nails, apply makeup, offer skin treatments or work in another beauty or wellness field. The company's stated mission is to give salon professionals and stylists rental space that helps them grow.

The company says it has more than 750 locations nationwide and is home to more than 20,000 independent beauty professionals. It describes its community as the largest of independent studio owners. Each Sola Salon Studios location is independently owned and operated, and the company says it does not manage the operations, employment or personnel matters of franchise owners or the professionals who rent there.

Renters receive a start-up manual with checklists, forms and studio setup details. It includes forms and tips for obtaining a salon license and other licenses and permits, along with guidance on insurance, the equipment a studio needs and paint choices. Renters also get credit card processing tips and retail support, including distributor contacts.

Renters have access to liability insurance and disability insurance, though disability coverage is offered only in certain areas. Other benefits include retail discounts, special offers for online scheduling, continuing education programs and industry events. The business hosts community gatherings for renters, such as cocktail parties and family picnics.

Its suites include Studio 7, which lists hair and hair extensions as its main services and accepts walk-ins; Studio 3, which lists hair as its primary service and is by appointment only; and Studio 13, which lists permanent makeup as its business type and is by appointment only. FawnSkin Studios, a paramedical tattoo studio in the same location, offers scar revision, stretch mark revision, wrinkle revision and hair follicle stimulation.
