Halo + Hive is a husband and wife owned salon. Its services span women's and men's haircuts, color and blonding, hair treatments, extensions, lashes, brows, waxing, facials and makeup. The salon describes itself as the premier destination for men's hair between Scripps Ranch and Rancho Penasquitos, and as a new five-star salon.

About

The hair menu is organized into studio stylist and junior stylist services, with prices that differ by level. Women's cuts include a consultation, a precision haircut and a professional finish, and textured or technical cuts such as wolf cuts, shags, butterfly cuts, mullets and asymmetrical styles are available. Curly cuts are done dry, wet or as a combination depending on curl type. Men's cuts are done with scissors or clippers and include a headwash. Barbering covers buzz cuts, senior, young men's and service member haircuts, hot towel and lather head shaves, haircut and beard with beard oil, and haircut with a steamed deep conditioning and essential oil scalp massage. Big chop and transformation cuts are for clients who have not had a cut in a while and want to go short.

Color ranges from root touch-ups and all over color to partial and full highlights, partial and full balayage, bleach touch-ups and all over bleach, plus creative color, which is offered by studio stylists and requires a $100 deposit. Color correction is offered for fixing previous color mishaps and is booked as a long appointment, around 270 minutes. Blonding services include a set amount of time and product, and stylists review any adjustments before going ahead. Color services generally require a deposit between $50 and $175 depending on the service.

Skincare is done in a private studio within the salon. Facials range from a 30-minute express facial to 60-minute hydrating, customized, acne, back and dermaplaning facials. Add-ons include high frequency, dermaplaning and red light therapy, and several hydrojelly mask options are available. Skin care consultations are offered at no charge, and chemical peel consultations are held with a licensed esthetician to assess skin and plan treatment.

The lash menu covers classic, hybrid, wet style, anime, volume and mega volume sets, plus fills, lifts, lifts with tint, and tints. A fill is an upkeep appointment: older extensions come off, the lash line gets cleaned, and fresh extensions go on, with pricing varying by style. Fills booked more than three weeks after the previous visit carry a $15 add-on. Lash appointments run on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and a lash consultation costs nothing. Brow services include tinting, lamination, and lamination combined with tinting and waxing. Makeup options range from natural everyday looks and formal makeup for special occasions to makeup lessons, with strip lashes available as an add-on.

Booking policies are firm: a first cancellation within 24 hours of a buzz cut appointment carries a $20 fee, a second late cancellation requires payment for the missed service before booking continues, and a third late cancellation ends ongoing services. A no call or no show requires full payment for the missed service before future appointments can be booked. Gift cards are offered. The salon is open Tuesday through Friday, with weekend hours, and is closed on Mondays; other times can be arranged on request.
