Skinchology has been operating for about a decade and is run by founder Danita Q. Berry. The studio sits inside Salons by JC, and the business describes itself as a refuge for the skin and the soul, where skincare and self-care meet. It says it takes a holistic approach that looks after both the body and the spirit, and that it aims for deeper care and more open conversations with clients.

The menu is grouped into waxing, facials, body treatments and men's services. Waxing covers Brazilian work for first-time clients and for clients with eight or more weeks of growth, maintenance Brazilians for four to seven weeks of growth, a Brazilian plus inner thigh option, underarm and brow and lip waxing, and a Brazilian plus underarm service. Several waxing services include complimentary ingrown hair removal. Facials range from an express hydrating facial without extractions to a customized facial, a vegan facial built on fully vegan products, and The Works Facial, a four-layer signature treatment that can include light microdermabrasion. The Vulvacial, sometimes called a Vajacial, is a facial for the vulva area for dull, irritated or blemished skin, with a chemical peel booster available. Body treatments address acne, irritation and ingrown hairs on the back, buttocks and inner thigh.

Visits run on booked times that include prep and cleanup, so the business asks clients to arrive on time. Walk-ins are accepted as time permits, though advance booking is suggested. Before body waxing, clients are asked to wait three to four weeks after shaving, let at least a quarter inch of growth come in, and not trim beforehand. Clients should not shave between waxes, should wait three to five days before tanning, and should not wax if their skin is sensitive or sunburned. Clients under 17 are serviced only with a parent present who signs a release form. The studio says it is cleaned several times a day with approved disinfectants and that wax sticks are never double dipped.

Skinchology is open Tuesday through Saturday and closed Sunday and Monday, with extended hours available by request. The business also shares a free Brazilian wax beginner's guide, runs The Self-Care Edit online shop of curated skin, body, wellness and home products, and offers mini courses and workbooks for beauty professionals who want to grow a service business.
