Skin Institute is a skin care school in St. Louis, licensed by the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology and nationally accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences. The school describes itself as an industry leader in skincare education and esthetics training, and says its instructors are licensed esthetic instructors rather than cosmetology instructors.
The core program is a Certificate of Completion in esthetics requiring 750 clock hours, built on the PCA Enhanced Curriculum and including state board exam preparation. Full-time students attend a day program Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a 30-hour week, and can finish in about 30 weeks; graduation timing depends on class and clinic attendance. Students train on Dermalogica and SkinCeuticals product lines, learn how to sell them, and operate advanced skin care machinery. Tuition includes a Milady Esthetics Bundle with CourseMate, given on the first day of class, with a stated retail value of $1,025.
Clinic time is hands-on work with members of the public, and the clinic is open Monday through Friday by appointment only. Clients can book advanced treatments such as vacuum therapy, microdermabrasion resurfacing and RF toning, body treatments, peels from several professional lines, massage, and hair removal. Medical skin care demonstrations, including microneedling and dermaplaning, are provided by partner med-spas.
Instructors must hold an instructor license and complete 12 continuing education hours each year, 4 of them on teaching methodology. The school lists a strategic partnership with the International Dermal Institute for ongoing instructor training, Master Educator training through Milady, and a partnership with The Only Facial. Testimonials describe small classes, individualized attention from instructors, and a warm, supportive small-school environment. The school states that many past graduates have been employed by one of the area's highest-rated spas, and one graduate says the school offers continued help with strategic job placement.
Listed career paths include spas, salons, skincare centers, medical offices and makeup artistry, and the gainful employment disclosure names medical spa, resort or destination spa, salon, laser facility, wax spa estheticians and makeup artists. Cost of attendance is $18,990, which must be paid in full before a diploma is issued, or six no-interest monthly payments of $3,152.50. Applicants must be at least 17 and hold a high school diploma or GED. Financial aid includes federal Pell Grants, Direct Loans, federal military or veterans benefits for those who qualify, and state grants through Missouri Career Centers; the school's FAFSA code is 041740. The school reports a 96% on-time graduation rate for 2025-2026 and a median loan debt of $9,500 for completers with Title IV loans.
