Simply Mia's started in 2010 as an in-home business offering facials and waxing. After receiving inquiries about male Brazilian waxing, and having already performed Brazilian waxing on women, owner and operator Mia added men's Brazilian services. As waxing clientele grew, the business stopped offering facials to make room for it.

About

Services take place in a fully equipped treatment room in the home, with a bathroom next to it that clients can use. The room has an electric bed that adjusts height during the service, central air conditioning, and background music. The business is cash only and works by appointment, with the GPS location shared after booking. It is about half a mile from the Alaska Street Junction, within walking distance of bus stops, and about 1.8 miles from the West Seattle Bridge.

A visit begins at the front door, and clients are taken through the living room to a short intake of about five minutes that includes a contraindication form and a client release form. Mia reviews the waxing goals and procedure, and pre-waxing instructions are sent when a client books. First-time appointments are assigned by first availability. Clients under 18 must come with a parent, who signs a consent and waiver. Hair should be more than a quarter inch long, with half an inch ideal, and clients should not shave or trim between appointments. Maintenance waxing every four to five weeks is recommended, since hair should not be allowed to grow past six weeks.

Preparation is simple: shower a couple of hours before the appointment rather than right before it, and skip lotions, oils and creams on the day of treatment. Tanning and sun exposure should be avoided for two days after a waxing session. Facial grooming clients are asked not to exfoliate the face in the week before their package.

The business describes itself as Seattle's Best Waxing Services for Men. It states that it welcomes everyone and is LGBTQ-friendly. It does not offer shaving, massage, rectal bleaching, full-body, full back or full chest waxing, or Brazilian facials, and it does not trim the lower genitalia or create templated designs such as hearts. Changes or cancellations made within three days carry a $75 fee paid by Zelle, and cancelling on the day of service requires full payment for that service. Mia may refuse service, and the business reserves the right to do so for any reason.

Each service starts with an intake consultation so the work fits the client's goals, and the business offers waxing for hair removal only. Tools are cleaned with liquid sanitizer and UV lighting under Washington State guidelines.
