Silk Press Bar opened in 2012. Its founder, Lesley Levias, has worked in beauty for over 25 years. Later came the express salon model, built around silk presses that take an hour or less.
The salon is built around silk presses and healthy hair services for people with full schedules. Silk presses come in several versions, from a straight finish with no curl to options that add curls from a thermal iron, a trim of about an inch, a scalp and hair treatment, a full cut, or root color. The salon describes its services as luxury hair services, and the setting has a wine bar feel.
Visits are by appointment for most services. Walk-ins are accepted only for silk press services and are subject to availability. Chemical services, extensions, braids and cuts need a scheduled appointment, and a non-refundable deposit is required to hold any booking. Clients should arrive with hair detangled and free of glue, heavy product buildup, braids, twists and tangles at the roots, or extra fees may apply or service may be refused. Results depend on hair type, condition, texture and previous treatments and are not guaranteed, so any concern about a service should be raised before leaving the salon.
The salon is open Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and is closed Sunday and Monday and on major holidays. Payment is by card only, due when the service is complete, and tips are also card only. Only clients receiving services may be inside, and children under 13 are not allowed.
The salon says it is preparing an exclusive line of professional hair care products for home use. It also publishes hair care tips on sulfate-free shampoo, oil-based conditioners, and deep and leave-in conditioners.
Focused on silk presses and healthy hair services designed to fit into a busy day.
The setting has a wine bar feel.
