Shelly Hatting works as a hairstylist at The Looking Glass, a space at 688 Hague Ave in St Paul.
Her career started with training at the Aveda Institute. After graduating she worked with Rita Ambourne at the Rita Ambourne Day Spa, then moved to Estetica, a concept salon in St Paul's Cathedral Hill area.
She later joined the Aveda faculty as an instructor, brought on by Oscar Bond of New York City to teach the company's signature techniques, and worked alongside Ted Gibson while teaching for Aveda. Later she left the faculty to open and run her own salon, BLEACH, which she describes as having operated for twelve consecutive years and as award-winning.
Her teaching has included an All Nutrient Color Line trends class that toured nationally. She also formed her own LLC and designed a line of salon apparel that was featured nationally at hair shows from 2011 to 2013.
