About

SenSpa was founded in the Presidio in 2006 by David Spencer and has operated in the neighborhood for more than 20 years. The spa describes its purpose as helping clients reconnect through intentional care and restorative treatments. Its interior draws on the Presidio's gardens, filtered light and the sound of water.

Services are arranged into three pathways, Regulation, Recovery and Longevity, so the menu can be matched to what a body needs at the time. Massage, facial and body treatments are sorted this way too. New clients are advised to book a 60-minute session in the pathway that fits them best, and the front desk can help with that choice by phone at 415-441-1777.

Massage options include Swedish, deep tissue, cranio-sacral, gua sha, lymphatic, pregnancy, shiatsu, biomechanical sports therapy and hot stone massage, with a targeted 45-minute massage also available by phone booking. Facial options range from a 30-minute HydraFacial Express to a 90-minute HydraFacial Platinum with a lymphatic drainage step and LED light therapy. Body treatments include a clay-based renewal treatment and a warm salt and stone treatment.

Wellness services include acupuncture, a customized multimodality session, an acupuncture-based massage for pain in a specific area, private infrared saunas and seven Ammortal Chamber programs. Guests can add a treatment to a sauna visit or stay for an hour or a full afternoon, and the spa can help plan a full day. Series of four, six or ten treatments carry a 10% savings, and day passes and gift cards are available.

The spa lists several local awards: a 2024 Splendid Spa of San Francisco award from Nob Hill Gazette, Best Massage Bay Area awards for 2022 and 2023 from San Francisco Magazine, a 2022 Best Massage Bay Area award from Marin Magazine, and 2018 SF Weekly awards for Best Spa and Best Massage. The spa also describes itself as award-winning.

Each session opens with a conversation about what the client's body needs at that moment, and care is delivered by massage therapists, estheticians and acupuncturists.

A quiet setting inside historic Presidio buildings, with garden views, filtered light and water sounds in the design.
