About

The practice is run by its owner and electrologist, Sandra Schallenberg, who works from a suite in a two-story office building at King St and College Blvd. Clients arrive at a dedicated waiting room before being taken to a separate private treatment room.

Electrolysis is the main service. Treatment is offered for the eyebrows, upper lip, chin, cheeks, forehead, nape, underarms, wrists, arms, fingers, toes, abdomen and breasts. The practice takes clients of any skin tone or hair color, men and women of all ages, and says that referrals come from healthcare and beauty professionals.

The owner works one hair root at a time, applying a controlled amount of heat to each. The number of sessions needed depends on hair density and texture, heredity, the cause of growth, hormonal factors and any past removal methods. The site describes electrolysis as the only hair removal method the FDA considers permanent.

Pricing is set by session length: $40 for 10 minutes, $50 for 15 minutes, $70 for 30 minutes, $90 for 45 minutes and $110 for 60 minutes. Clients book online through Vagaro, and current and past clients can do so there as well. New clients are generally seen between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday, and can join a wait list through a form on the website.

Clients are asked to stop tweezing between appointments and to let hair grow for a few days so it can be treated. They should arrive 5 to 10 minutes early, avoid thick foundation and underarm deodorant, drink water in the days before, and skip caffeine the night before and the day of. After treatment the skin is wiped with an antiseptic and given a cooling gel, and clients are advised to avoid sun or shade on the area for 48 hours, then use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher.

The practice follows the American Electrology Association Standards of Practice and Infection Prevention Standards, and operates under the Kansas State Board of Cosmetology rules for electrology and skin care.

A quiet, professional setting in a traditional office building, with a waiting room and a private treatment room.
