About

Sanctuary Skin is a med spa in Suite 734 at 1624 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach. Founder Cassie Ogren leads a team of master estheticians, and the menu runs from classic facials through advanced facial treatments, chemical peels, DMK Enzyme therapy, SkinPen microneedling, laser sessions and a range of add-ons. The salon says it aims to be a premier facial destination in the city.

A first visit starts with a consultation, a cleanse and exfoliation, an add-on treatment, a massage and a home care plan. Facials are customized, with products chosen for each client's skin, and the esthetician talks through skin goals during the session. Facials are generally recommended every three to six weeks on a schedule set around the client's skin needs, and the FAQ suggests visits every four to six weeks for the best results. The Classic Facial is a one-hour option for first-time clients or anyone unsure what their skin needs, while the Signature Facial runs 80 minutes and adds cupping, lymphatic drainage and a longer Sculptural Lifting face massage, which the salon says is exclusive to its Virginia Beach location. The Advanced facials run 90 minutes and build on the Signature Facial, and the Acne Facial, Teen Facial, Back Facial and Deluxe Facial each cover a different set of goals.

Chemical peels are chosen by the master esthetician according to the client's goals and how much downtime they can take. Acne peels typically cause mild to moderate peeling for three to five days after each session. BioRePeel, priced at $250, is described as having no downtime and includes dermaplaning or microdermabrasion along with a Sculptural Lifting massage. The Perfect Derma Peel is a medium-depth peel priced at $350 that contains glutathione and typically needs seven to ten days of social downtime.

Microneedling here is performed with the SkinPen device alongside collagen induction therapy, and a numbing cream is applied to the skin before each session. A visit usually runs about an hour. A course of three to six visits, usually spaced several weeks apart, is the usual recommendation. Face and neck microneedling costs $400, extra areas are $100 each, and a package of three sessions is $1,000. According to the salon, the method involves no heat and suits medium to deep skin tones. Recovery is expected to take the rest of the treatment day plus one to two more days. The DMK Enzyme line-up offers a single Enzyme 1 visit, a 1,2,3 muscle banding session, a body enzyme treatment, and an introductory bundle with two Enzyme 1 visits and five skincare products. The salon recommends three to six DMK visits, with at least two or three completed before microneedling.

Laser sessions use an Aerolase Neo Elite laser and typically take 15 to 30 minutes. A series of three to six sessions spaced two to four weeks apart is commonly suggested. The laser menu covers acne, melasma and pigmentation, redness, rosacea and veins, rejuvenation and tightening, hair removal, ingrown hairs and razor bumps, nail fungus and psoriasis. The salon states that the laser is FDA-cleared for all Fitzpatrick skin types and that its treatments involve no downtime and no numbing cream.

Skincare for home use is sold through the online shop and in store, grouped under facials, enzymes, needling and laser. Products include Hyacyn Active, Vivid Brightening Serum and the Hydrinity line. Unopened products in original packaging can be returned within 30 days with a receipt. New clients get 10 percent off professional products bought at their first visit, and the First Glow Facial pairs a customized facial with one complimentary add-on. Clients are asked to read the store policies before booking.

Treatments are customized to each client's skin, with the goal of long-term skin health. Chemical peel options are selected by the master esthetician based on the client's goals and the downtime they want.

The salon describes the space as a serene setting designed for relaxation.
