Salon Zara was opened in 2011 by Kelsey and Leianne, who are both owners and stylists there. The space is open-concept and operates as a booth rental salon, so several stylists work side by side.

The service menu covers women's and men's cuts with wash and style, blowouts, updos and hairstyles, and a range of color work. Color options run from glaze or tone services and single process color through outgrowth retouches, foil highlights, balayage and color correction. Smoothing and conditioning treatments are also offered, along with airbrush makeup and eyebrow and lip waxing.

Custom treatments and services come in many forms, so the salon asks clients to book a consultation for details. Prices for those vary, while most other services list a starting price.

Payment can be made by major credit card, Salon Zara gift certificate, cash or personal check. Gratuities can be added to the bill. Stylists may ask for a card on file or a down payment for certain services. Clients are asked to tell their stylist if they are running late and to give reasonable notice to rearrange an appointment. Repeat cancellers may be asked to keep a card on file. Bounced checks carry an additional payment, and checks may no longer be accepted after more than one bounced check.
