Salon Shiloh

Salon Shiloh is led by Tracy Kucia Podesta, its creative director and owner, who designed the salon's mentorship-based apprenticeship program. The apprenticeship meets twice each week and mixes classroom-style education, hands-on practice, mentorship and real work in the salon. Training covers shampooing and conditioning, cutting, client consultations, styling, and color application including foils, balayage and glazing.

Services are tailored to each client's hair, lifestyle and goals. Clients can book a complimentary consultation to talk through options and choose the right service and stylist before booking.

Services are grouped into haircuts and styling, color and highlights, extensions and perms, and hair treatments and smoothing. Listed prices are starting rates and can vary with the stylist, hair needs, products used and time required. Services longer than three hours are charged at the stylist's hourly rate, and extensions are billed at $200 per hour.

Booking requires a credit card on file. Appointments more than 15 minutes late may be rescheduled. Cancelling within 24 hours or not showing up brings a fee of 50% of the services booked, and after two no-shows the full price of all booked services is charged. First-time clients and anyone with a no-show on record pay a deposit of half the service cost.

The ParkChirp garage at 1933 N. Halsted, a few buildings away, offers covered, handicap-accessible, self, touchless and mobile-pass parking, with rates that vary by day and start at about $10. Valet is available across the street at Summer House, 1954 N. Halsted, for $20. Halsted Bus 8 and Armitage Bus 73 stop steps from the door, and the Brown and Purple Lines Armitage station is about a five-minute walk.
