Salon Riz is run by owner Mike Riz, who says he always planned to open a salon in New York City. The salon is on the Upper West Side and describes itself as a calm break from the city's pace, a relaxed, community-oriented space where clients can get their hair done.
The menu is organized into haircuts and styling, color, and treatments. Haircut services range from a fringe trim and hot-tool styling to tailored cuts, pixie cuts, blowouts and combined cut-and-blowout appointments. Color covers root touch-ups, highlights, balayage, single and double process color, creative color, color correction, grey blending, glosses and clear glaze. Treatments include Brazilian Blowout, GK, K18, Olaplex, conditioning and permanent waves.
New clients booking color are asked to have a consultation by FaceTime or Zoom before their appointment. Clients who are unsure which service they need can call the salon coordinators for help. Prices depend on hair length and thickness and can differ by stylist, since some stylists have adjusted their rates.
The salon also offers custom wig and extension services, handled by stylists with that specialty. According to the press page, Salon Riz was featured in New York magazine's Wedding Editions and in Manhattan Sideways, and was mentioned in the West Side Rag.
Booking policies: cancellations and changes need 24 hours notice and must be made by call or text, not email. Cancellations with less notice, and missed appointments, are charged 50% of the service price. Clients more than 15 minutes late are usually asked to rebook for another day. If a stylist runs behind, the salon contacts clients by phone or text and may reschedule.
Treatments and color are matched to each client's hair condition and goals, and stylists guide clients on the look and on care at home.
Friendly, casual and welcoming, meant to feel relaxed amid the city's pace.
