Salon on 30th is a hair salon in the South Park neighborhood, east of downtown San Diego and Balboa Park. Its newer sister location, Garden by SO30, sits in Bankers Hill, just north of downtown and outside Balboa Park. Services are priced on a tiered system from Level 1 to Level 6, and stylists are placed at a level that reflects their skill and experience. When you request an appointment, the guest relations team matches you with a stylist based on hair type, history, service goals and budget. Lower and mid-level stylists take on simpler or straightforward work, while higher-level stylists are recommended for specific hair needs or challenges. There is no online booking; you submit a request form and the appointment is confirmed by phone or email after correspondence with guest relations.

Stylists train through in-house cutting and color educators and an ongoing in-salon education program led by industry professionals, supported by a partnership with Davines. Model services are offered at reduced cost on Mondays during education days, performed by students under educator guidance; existing clients of either location are not eligible.

Deposits are generally required for services totaling $300 or more. The deposit is 50% of the total, due at booking, and can be paid by phone. Standard appointments need at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule, and appointments with a deposit need at least 7 days notice. Most services allow a 15-minute grace period for late arrivals and express services allow 5 minutes. Both locations have street parking only, so arriving a few minutes early is advised; most Bankers Hill parking is metered, and free parking is on Sixth Avenue near Balboa Park. A 3% fee applies to credit card payments starting September 1, 2026, but not to debit or cash. Clients are asked to arrive with clean, dry hair, especially for color, and to wash out any root-cover powder or spray beforehand.
