Salon Jonas began in 1977 as Head Hunters Hair Designs for Men, across from Bachman Lake, where men were taught to shampoo and blow dry their own hair. Its founder, Glorianna Jonas, later moved the business to the village of Preston Hollow in the early 1980s. It was renamed Preston Hollow Salon in 1989 to draw more women clients, the same year her children, Christina and David, joined the team.

Salon Jonas has been located beside Summer Moon since 1995, when it relocated there while trading as The Jonas Hair Studio. In 1998 it took on the values and culture of Aveda and a plant-based approach to hair care and styling. It now operates under the name Salon Jonas.
Walk-ins are welcome for any service, but open slots tend to fill up during the day, so calling ahead shows current availability. Consultations are recommended to set expectations before a service, and stylists suggest the prescribed shampoo, conditioner and styling products for lasting results. Color and blonding services include pre-conditioning and post-conditioning, and stylists advise how long to wait before the next visit.
