Salon East & Spa opened in 1998 as an Aveda salon and has since grown into a full-service salon and spa on East Sumner Street in Hartford. Jamie has owned the salon for 28 years. The salon describes itself as woman-owned and says it has kept its standards high for more than 25 years.

About

Hair is the core of the business. Services include women's, men's and children's cuts, all-over color, highlights, balayage, dimensional blonding, root touch-ups and glosses, along with perms, head spa treatments, hair loss solutions with customized care, scalp care and wigs, and lessons for recreating salon-style results at home. Extensions are offered in premium weft and bead methods, and extension and bridal clients begin with a consultation appointment.

Beyond hair, the spa offers deep tissue, Swedish, prenatal, lymphatic and CBD massage, plus cupping with foot reflexology. Facials include AVEDA and GLYMED customized treatments, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, peels and LED light therapy. Waxing covers the face, body and bikini area, with bikini and Brazilian waxing done in a private setting. Spray tans come in three levels. Eyelash extensions and brow tinting are also offered, and clients are asked to arrive with clean lashes and no mascara or eye makeup. A full lash set typically takes 1½ to 2½ hours, and lash fills are usually scheduled every two to three weeks.

Bridal services begin with a consultation to talk through the wedding and the desired hairstyle, and brides can share inspiration photos and boards at any point. A hair and make-up trial lasts about 1.5 hours and is recommended but not required, and brides may bring one guest. Most brides book the trial one to three months before the wedding. A signed bridal contract and a retainer reserve the date, and the Bridal Manager helps decide whether the party is served at the venue or in the salon.

Visits can be booked online through the salon's Phorest page or by calling (262) 673-5633. Hours are Monday through Wednesday 8:30 AM to 8 PM, Thursday 9 AM to 8 PM, Friday 8:30 AM to 3 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 2 PM. The salon is closed on Sundays.
