Janine Fortun formed Salon Dolce Vita in 2004, and the salon later moved to its current location on Route 1 in Edison, Suite 6. The team works on a level system that reflects experience and years of dedication, and the salon says designers at every level are trained in all of its methods. The salon describes its stylists as teammates rather than competitors, and says clients can be served by any stylist on the team. Continuing education is required for staff, and stylists must be certified by the product manufacturer before performing specific chemical services on clients.

The salon is open seven days a week, with Sunday hours from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday 12 to 8 pm, Tuesday 10 am to 8 pm, Wednesday 12 to 9 pm, Thursday and Friday 10 am to 8 pm, and Saturday 9 am to 5 pm.
