The salon traces its start to founder Roberto Bezjon, who trained in cosmetics in Rome and returned to New York in 1969 as a makeup artist for Revlon. He then worked with Estée Lauder and later created Roberto Bezjon Cosmetics, known for a custom blend foundation. In 1971 he became head makeup artist at Kenneth's Salon, where he began assisting with hair clients. In 1973 he opened a salon above the Emilio Pucci boutique on Madison Avenue, which operated there until 1995. The business moved to its current Central Park South and Sixth Avenue location in 1999 as a full-service hair salon.

Roberto Bezjon retired in spring 2020 and his daughter, Jacqueline Bezjon, took over the business. She oversaw a complete renovation of the Sixth Avenue location. The salon describes itself as known for exceptional service and discretion.

The menu is broad. Women's cuts, blowdries and extension styling sit alongside a full range of color work, from single process and highlights to balayage, root lightening, gloss and henna. Treatments include Milbon, Olaplex, Goldwell, Malina and keratin options. Men's services cover cuts, color, beard work and smoothing. Makeup, lash and brow services, along with bridal makeup and up-dos, are offered for events. Bezjon Privée is a private service offered by appointment, booked by calling the studio. A consultation of about 15 minutes is offered before services, and corrective and double process color and natural hair extensions are priced after consultation.

Walk-ins are welcome. Clients are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their reservation to receive the full service. Cancellations need to be made 4 hours in advance to avoid a full charge. The salon is open Monday to Friday 9:30am to 6pm and Saturday 10:30am to 5pm, and is closed Sunday. Gift cards are sold as eGift cards in amounts of $100, $150, $200, $250, or a custom amount.
