Salon 90

The salon has been at 90 Bethlehem Pike since the 1960s and was previously known as Nicholas & David, named for the owner's father and grandfather. Four generations of the D'Amico family have worked in hair, going back to the 1920s in Old City, Philadelphia, and the family describes its hairstyling work as spanning a century. Owner Cynthia D'Amico is the fourth generation to run the salon.

The salon describes its atmosphere as easy-going, relaxing and homelike. Hair services cover cuts for men and women, color with Goldwell, Redken and Naturcolor, highlights and straightening, and a complimentary hair color consultation is offered. Appointments can be made by phone or text message. The salon is open Tuesday through Saturday, with shorter Wednesday hours and closures on every other Wednesday. Front-door parking is available, with two hours free and some spots limited to two hours.

Keratin smoothing is offered through Brazilian Blowout Zero and the Keratherapy Keratin Smoothing System, both said to reduce frizz. Keratherapy is listed as suitable for all hair types, including chemically treated hair, and the salon says its results can last up to 16 weeks. Formula 18 Treatment is offered for hair showing breakage from chemical and thermal damage.

Updos, styling and make-up are offered for weddings, prom and other special events. Wellness services are also available at the salon, including massage and energy-based sessions with massage therapist Jennifer Merritt.

The salon sells green beauty care products and carries Living Proof, Moroccan Oil and Goldwell hair products, along with Jane Iredale Skin Care Makeup. The salon describes the Jane Iredale line as award-winning and says it has been seen in Allure, Elle and American Spa. Gift cards are available in $25, $50, $100 and $250 amounts, emailed within 1-3 business days or picked up in person.
