Salon 81 Suites is a shared space where independent beauty and wellness professionals each run their own private suite. Its founder, Tammy Todd, opened it with the aim of creating a welcoming, calm salon. The salon describes its mission as a place where professionals can set a schedule that fits their lives while earning an income, and full-time suite owners set their own hours.

Each suite includes a supply cabinet, a styling station, a chair and a shampoo bowl. Owners can personalize their suite's decor while the space keeps a consistent, relaxing feel. The salon provides snacks, coffee, water and Wi-Fi, and suite owners receive promotion on the salon's social media and a personal bio page on the salon website.

Every appointment is one-on-one. Hair work covers cuts, dimensional color, blonding, balayage, perms, bridal styling, Brazilian Blowout, extensions, alternative hair, toppers, and blonde and bob cut work. The skin department offers quick facials, eyebrow shaping, microcurrent, radiofrequency, LED light treatments, make-up instruction and product advice. Massage options include Swedish, deep tissue, shiatsu, hot stone, aromatherapy, reflexology and stretching. Ear piercing is available for every age group, babies included.

Professionals apply for a suite through an online form. The salon screens applicants for fit with its existing team before inviting them to join. Some stylists take bookings through GlossGenius, an online booking platform, while others accept calls or texts.

The salon selects like-minded professionals and chooses treatments and product lines it considers effective, with a focus on relaxation, comfort and safe, healthy practices.
