Colourist Sakura Ito has been based in New York City since 2010. Her training in precision cutting and colour began in Nagoya, and she has also worked in Los Angeles, Honolulu, Atlanta and San Francisco. The salon's other locations are not taking new clients.
Clients need to disclose their hair history, since undisclosed earlier treatments can lead to a cancellation charge of the full fee. Lighting services are not offered to clients with certain previous box dye, henna, dark or fantasy colour, or recent keratin or Brazilian or Japanese straightening. Fantasy and silver colours are not offered. Pricing depends on hair condition and where the service is done, and extra charges apply for extended appointments, extreme hair density, long or thick hair cuts and additional bowls.
Bookings require a 50% deposit. Reminders are sent 72 hours ahead and clients confirm by text. Cancellations must be made by phone at least 48 hours in advance; missed or changed appointments inside that window, or arriving 20 or more minutes late, carry a fee of the full service cost. Adjustments or corrections are included within two weeks of a service, and later work is charged. A declined card blocks future bookings until the balance is paid.
Lightening is built around a seamless look that appears natural, holds up over time and grows out well.
