SaHel Locs started at home, where owner Esther Abegley first began learning and experimenting with locs. That home practice later grew into a studio in Laurel, Maryland.

The studio's approach starts with whether a service supports the long-term health of the hair. Every service is adjusted to hair density, texture, lifestyle and goals, and clients are told what a service involves and why before it is done.

Every installation begins with a consultation, which can be done in person or virtually, and the Locs Extension Consultation is in person only. Installation prices are confirmed at consultation, and the final price for Sisterlocks is set then. The studio is open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Services are grouped into consultations, new locs and installation, and maintenance and care. Maintenance appointments ask clients to arrive 5 to 10 minutes early. Cancellations or reschedules need at least 48 hours' notice, and later changes or no-shows forfeit the deposit. Installation deposits are non-refundable and confirm the appointment. The studio does not supply, sell or source hair extensions, so clients bring their own for extension services.

Decisions begin with what is best for long-term hair health, and each service is customized to the client's hair and goals. Clients are told what a service is and why before it is performed.
