Russini Dermatology practices medical and cosmetic dermatology in Sarasota. On the medical side, the clinic offers skin exams, including full-body checks for abnormal growths, moles and other skin changes, and treats a broad range of conditions, among them acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, warts, hives, fungal infections, cysts, skin tags, spider veins and sun damage.
Skin cancer care covers skin exams, Mohs surgery, surgical excision and photodynamic therapy. Mohs removes skin cancer one thin layer at a time, with each layer checked under a microscope. It is done under local anesthesia while the patient is awake. Most patients spend three to four hours in the office, though the procedure can run up to six hours. The repair may use stitches, a skin graft or a skin flap, and complex repairs may involve a plastic surgeon. The first follow-up visit is typically one to two weeks later. According to the website, the Mohs cure rate is 99.8% for certain skin cancers. For basal cell carcinoma, options may include surgical excision, Mohs and cryotherapy, and actinic keratosis may be treated with topical medications, cryotherapy or laser therapy.
On the cosmetic side, the clinic offers injectables including BOTOX, Xeomin, Restylane, RADIESSE and Sculptra. Cosmetic services include BroadBand Light (BBL), dermaplaning, facials, hair restoration, Hydrafacial, laser skin resurfacing, microneedling and Vbeam Perfecta laser treatment. Chemical peels include VI Peels, which use trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, phenol and vitamin C. A VI Peel typically takes 30 to 60 minutes, with redness and peeling beginning within a few days and lasting up to a week. The site typically recommends a VI Peel every four to six weeks. CoolPeel is also offered.
Booking is handled by a team that answers calls directly and often offers same-day or next-day appointments. The clinic accepts most major medical insurance carriers, including AARP, Aetna, CHAMPVA, Cigna, Florida Blue/Anthem, Humana (excluding Humana Choice), Medicare, Tricare (with referral), UMR and United Health Care, among others. Patients should check with their plan about whether a referral is needed before booking, and referrals from a primary care physician can be sent to (941) 926-8424. Cosmetic services are not considered medically necessary, so insurance does not cover them and claims are not filed for them. Payment for cosmetic services is due at the time of service and, in some cases, at booking. CareCredit financing is available for out-of-pocket expenses and procedures not covered by insurance. Insurance co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles are collected on the day of service. A VIP membership gives 15% off the next treatment within three months, 10% within six months and 5% within a year, and a rewards program is also offered. The website shows a 4.9-star rating from 1,076 reviews.
The clinic describes its care as personalized and built on advanced treatments, pairing medical dermatology with cosmetic work under one practice.
