Rumors Salon has operated in Scottsdale for over 30 years, according to the salon, and now works from three locations. Seville, at 7001 N. Scottsdale Road, is the location that also offers nails and makeup. DC Ranch is at 20707 N. Pima Road. NextGen, on the second floor at 10636 N. 71st Place, is an advanced training salon where talented rising stylists work with clients and bring current trends and fresh creative energy.

Hair services cover cuts, blow-dries and a wide range of color. Options run from partial highlights concentrated on the crown and face, to full highlights through the back, to balayage that is hand-painted in or out of foil. Bleach and tone or double process is offered with no more than three-quarter inch of regrowth. Corrective color is for at-home results, long gaps between color visits, or shifts of more than three levels, and is priced after a consultation, often over several sessions. Extensions include Bellami tape-in, hand-tied and bonded methods, plus Halo extensions, also priced after consultation. The keratin smoothing treatments reduce frizz, improve manageability and repair damage; the salon notes they smooth rather than straighten. Texture services include Keune curl or volume treatments, classic waves and perms.

A visit typically begins with a consultation, which the salon says continues throughout the appointment. A separate no-charge consultation can be booked to talk through future color or a cut. Walk-ins are taken based on availability, but booking ahead is recommended, and color, blonding and extension appointments are best scheduled a few weeks out. Appointments can be booked online at any time. A no-show fee of 50% of the service applies to missed appointments made without notice, though the salon may waive it for emergencies if it is called as soon as possible. Seville and DC Ranch are open Monday, Friday and Saturday 9am to 6pm and Tuesday through Thursday 9am to 8pm, and are closed Sunday. NextGen is open Wednesday 10am to 6pm, Thursday 12pm to 8pm, and Friday and Saturday 10am to 6pm.

NextGen offers a monthly membership at $75 that includes $100 in service credit each month, 10% off retail products and a free monthly blow-dry. Memberships can be paused for up to six months and unused credits do not expire, though credits do not apply to extensions. Cancellation requires written notice by email at least 72 hours before the next billing date.

The salon says its stylists are committed to lifelong learning and client service, with a consultation throughout each appointment. It also says it uses natural products and sustainable practices.
