About

ROOTED was founded by Terry Varty-Kaslow, who noticed that clients wanted to feel good as well as look good, and added energy work to the hair services. The studio sits on the fourth floor of the Center for Performing Arts building, reached by elevator, with a reserved parking spot on the southwest corner and additional general and street parking nearby. It is open Monday through Saturday and closed Sundays.

Guests are not in the space with other guests during their appointment. Only two practitioners work during any shared time, and six feet of distance is kept during services. Beverages, snacks, phone chargers, Wi-Fi and guided meditation can be offered if wanted, and restrooms are just outside the studio door. Booking, confirmations and checkout run through the Vagaro app. Changes need 24 hours' notice; a fee of 50% of the appointment price may apply to later cancellations.

Hair services include blowouts, haircuts, pixie, barber and children's cuts, conditioning treatments, full color, retouches, highlights, foil and balayage, perms and relaxers. Energy sessions start with a first visit that includes an energy assessment, balancing and a home care plan, followed by shorter follow-up visits or a wellness package. The studio also runs Reiki and Energy Wellness workshops, hair and color workshops, and Morning Altars, a one-day healing arts workshop for people working through grief, loss or a major life transition.

The salon states it is an accredited Sustainable Salon. It composts hair, beverage cups, food scraps and product packaging, and recycles or reuses other materials to keep waste out of landfills.

Built around aligning how a person looks on the outside with how they feel inside, through services chosen to reflect who each client is and how they want to feel. Sustainability is a stated priority, with composting, recycling and zero-waste practices.

The salon describes the studio as a luxury space on a quiet fourth floor.
