The business traces its roots to the 1960s, when its owner ran nine traditional beauty parlors under the name Robert Andrew Hairstyling. It moved into day spa service in 1996 and opened its Gambrills facility in 2002. In 2014 VIBE Salon, the MenZone and a medispa joined the collection, and in 2017 the medispa became a Skinceuticals flagship skin clinic called dermaspa. According to the salon, it is the largest privately owned day spa and salon in the region, and it says it has served Gambrills, Crofton and the DMV area for 50 years.

Hair services are built around each client, with cuts and color tailored to the individual. The menu runs from base color and foil work to balayage, perms, extensions, silk press and a set of scalp and hydration treatments. The skincare menu pairs clinical-style treatments with a spa setting: facials are customized to each client and sit alongside Hydrafacial levels, dermaplaning, peels and add-ons, and estheticians use premium products. Massage and body treatments range from Swedish and deep tissue to hot stone, prenatal, reflexology, cupping and lymphatic drainage, plus body rituals, salt glows and two-person sessions.

A visit usually starts with arriving at least 30 minutes ahead of spa and massage appointments, which leaves time to use the shower, steam room and lounge before and after service. The salon notes it cannot guarantee every amenity will be available. Massage sessions run about 50 minutes hands-on unless otherwise noted. Couples can book a private couples suite, with Tuscany and Venetian Suite accommodations available on request, and private spa suites can be arranged for celebrations.

Booking can be done online at any hour through the website or the iPhone and Android app. Online bookings require a 50% deposit, and gift cards can also secure an appointment. Cancellations and reschedules need at least 48 hours' notice, and changes made later or no-shows are charged in full. Gratuities go directly to the provider in cash, as tips are not accepted at the front desk. Clients can join the RA Rewards loyalty program, and booking help is available by phone or text.

Hair services are customized to each client, with cuts and color tailored to the individual. Skincare uses premium products and waxing follows a no double dipping pledge, with wax chosen for each client's skin type.

The salon describes its setting as welcoming, hygienic and professional, in a large building with a Tuscan-inspired design.
