Reve

Reve was established in 1995 and began in Rumson. Christopher and Barbara Y. own and run the salon together.

The salon describes its approach as personal and friendly, and it says it has more than 30 years of experience. Color and cutting appointments start with a consultation so the result can be shaped to the client. Color work includes balayage, highlights, root touch-ups and bold fantasy shades, plus customizable options for gray coverage, added depth, shine and dimension. Colorists can also analyze a client's current shade and build a custom formula to match or enhance it.

Smoothing is offered through a Brazilian blowout, which begins with an assessment of hair type and texture, then cleansing, the solution, a blow-dry and flat ironing to seal and smooth. The appointment usually runs 2 to 3 hours depending on length and thickness. The salon says results can last up to 12 weeks with proper care.

Braiding and extensions are a major part of the menu. Fusion human hair extensions are bonded to natural hair with a hair-safe adhesive, and tape-in extensions are applied with medical-grade glue. An appointment starts with a conversation about the desired style, hair type and length, then washing and conditioning, attaching the extensions or braids, and styling. Extensions typically last 3 to 6 months with proper care, depending on the method and hair growth.

The cutting menu covers women's and men's haircuts and perms. Each cut starts with a consultation, then washing, conditioning and detangling if needed, cutting with scissors and clippers, and a blow-dry. The salon suggests haircuts every 6 to 8 weeks, or every 4 to 6 weeks for shorter or damaged hair.

The salon's stated philosophy is that work should be enjoyable, with an upbeat environment for both clients and team. Stylists consult with each client before color or cutting so the service is tailored to that person.
