Pure Simplicity

Pure Simplicity was founded and is still owned by Vannisha S., a licensed professional hairstylist who has worked in hair since 2005 and took over as owner and founder of the salon in 2011. The business centers on protective and textured styling, with booking categories covering braids, locs, weaves, twists, natural hair, stitches and men's hair.

The main salon at 400 N 63rd St is open Wednesday and Thursday from 11 am to 6 pm, Friday from 11 am to 7 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, and it is closed Monday, Tuesday and Sunday. A second address at 4512 Lancaster Ave appears on the booking pages, though the site gives no hours for it. Clients can reach the salon by phone at (484) 452-4012.

Braid appointments need hair at least 4 inches long all around, freshly shampooed and blown out straight. A shampoo and blow-dry add-on for braids is available for an additional fee. The smallest braid size offered is a smedium, and no small braids are done. Knotless braids and select loc services include hair. Passion twists are not done in a sleek finish, and the salon no longer supplies hair for that service.

Brow tinting, henna and waxing are grouped together. Clients are asked to arrive with skin free of products, and these services are not suited to sensitive skin. A brow tint typically lasts 3 to 5 days and henna 5 to 10 days, and clients are advised not to wash their brows to help the color last. A patch test is recommended 24 hours before service, and clients may decline it in writing.

Booking requires a $50 deposit that is paid electronically and applied to the total. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable, and the balance is paid in cash at the appointment. A 15-minute grace period applies to late arrivals, after which a $25 late fee is charged. No-shows forfeit their deposit and cannot book again. Appointments on a stylist's day off carry an additional $100 fee. Children under 12 are not serviced, and children and extra guests are not allowed at appointments. Styles cannot be changed within 24 hours of the appointment. Free adjustments are offered within 72 hours for select services.

The salon also sells its own line of hair extensions and hair care products through its Shop Hair page, which includes a return and shipping policy.
