Locmamas Salon takes the view that natural hair can suit both professional and playful goals, and its services are built around locs. The Atlanta salon is at 4267 Bakers Ferry Rd SW, and the Philadelphia salon is at 2115 N 63rd St. Both locations are open Wednesday to Saturday or Sunday, from 9 AM to 3 PM.

Visits start with booking online and prepaying, including a $3 credit card fee. Many services, including new color, extensions, micro locs and starter locs, require a consultation first. The consultation session is a 15-minute visit covering color, repair or starter loc needs, and its $25 cost is credited toward the first service booked at that visit. Clients are asked to bring pictures of the style they want, list every service they need, and arrive with hair already styles-free and combed, since style removal is not offered. The shop is small, so guests need to be arranged in advance and children come only if they are receiving services or have been approved ahead of time. Appointments are rescheduled through the edit link in the confirmation email or text. Cancellations made Wednesday to Friday need at least 24 hours notice, and any fee is credited to the next appointment or refunded.

The salon runs the Locmamas Academy, an online, self-paced natural hair curriculum for people training as locticians. The salon describes it as one of the leading online natural hair curricula, and states that 323 students have enrolled. The salon also offers a teen summer loc program.

Natural hair is treated as suitable for both everyday professional looks and more playful styling. Locs are the core of the work, from starting new locs to maintaining established ones.
