Rusty Bittle founded the business and opened it in November 2009, after visiting destination spas and wanting a luxury spa environment in Knoxville. Tim Varney and Blake Henry bought the business in June 2018, and it has operated two Knoxville locations since June 2019.

The Hardin Valley location is about 12,000 square feet and houses the salon, spa and medspa together. The Downtown West location offers medspa services only. Every salon visit begins with a consultation. Spa guests are asked to arrive 15 to 30 minutes early and may use the lounge, dry sauna, experience shower and steam shower before and after treatments, or stay on after an appointment.

A physician oversees the medical spa treatments, which registered nurses and medical aestheticians carry out. Chemical peels are performed only while a physician supervises. The salon says it is Knoxville's sole business offering both full-service medical spa care and hair styling, and that it ranks as the city's highest-rated hair salon; these are the salon's own descriptions. Hair color is done with Goldwell and haircare is by Oribe, and the spa uses skincare from SkinMedica, Obagi and ZO Skin Health.

Pure Purpose, established in 2025, is a effort by the business to partner with local organizations supporting women's health, confidence and well-being.

The business says it builds its experience around the senses at every point of client contact, and states a commitment to going above and beyond for each guest.
