Preparations was founded to offer a practice built around individual skin analysis, moving away from reactive treatments and trend-driven plans. The business grew through client referrals rather than advertising, and existing clients who refer a friend who books can receive a $25 referral credit. A medical director, Dr. Ngozi Okorafor, MD, oversees the practice. The business describes itself as bringing industry-leading brands to Richardson.

Chemical peels are chosen from that analysis, current skin condition and long-term goals, and new clients need a consultation before booking one. Most listed chemical peels are available to existing clients only. Clients can check in through their MangoMint appointment to let staff know they have arrived, then wait in their car or in the building's seating areas.

Appointment times cannot be extended for late arrivals, and the full service fee is still charged. Clients who arrive 15 or more minutes late are rebooked and recorded as no-shows. Full fees are charged whether or not the service goes ahead, and illness or emergencies do not cancel fees or policies. Products are non-refundable, and every sale is final. Children and other companions may join a client during a service only if the salon has approved it in advance.

Treatments are selected from skin analysis, timing and long-term goals rather than preset menus or trends.
