About

Phenix Salon Suites was founded in 2007 by Gina Rivera, a celebrity stylist who still works behind the chair. The company is named after her son. It began franchising in 2012 and now has over 435 locations across two countries. The company describes its suites as the first boutique salon suite concept and says it has more than 15,000 Lifestyle Professionals worldwide.

Each suite is closed off for one renter and can be personalized, down to the wall color. There are three suite sizes: a single suite fits one salon professional, a premium suite holds one or two, and a double suite holds up to three. Renters can get in at any hour, and video cameras watch both locations around the clock. Hair suites are stocked with a basin, a client chair, a shampoo chair, a mobile cart, a dryer and a storage cabinet. Spa suites instead include a spa sink and a cabinet.

Renting here comes with a long list of inclusions. All utilities are covered except the renter's own phone. Renters and their clients get complimentary WiFi, and free commercial washers and dryers are available on site. Parking is free for professionals and their clients at the Sandy Springs and Atlanta locations. Professional liability insurance is included, and renters can share a suite at no additional cost.

Renters also receive free education, product discounts, and maternity and bereavement leave. Agreements are month-to-month rather than long-term leases or contracts. Pricing varies by location and suite size, so prospective renters are asked to contact the business for current rates.

The business aims to lower the barriers to owning a salon through a low-cost, low-risk model in which professionals rent their own space.

Each suite is private and can be painted to suit the renter.
