Rae has worked as a hairstylist on the Peninsula for more than 25 years. Her focus is lived-in color meant to look good through each stage of grow-out, and she keeps current by taking three to four education classes a month.

Services fall into coloring, haircut and styling, and lightening. Glaze Refresh Services keep color and shine between lightening appointments; a glaze is a top coat that fades with washing, styling and sun, so the refresh is not a brush application. Express color is a single-process touch-up of about one inch of new growth, or a way to blend natural color with previously colored hair. Corrective and transformation color handles major changes, including removing black box dye or platinum card color, and results may take more than one visit. Lightening comes as a mini, partial or full service, with the full service suggested for first-time guests wanting dimensional results. Prices and times for color, lightening and cuts depend on hair length and density.

New guests are asked to send hair history, natural light and inspiration photos, hair goals and their styling and maintenance routine before booking. Color corrections and big transformations start with a 30-minute consultation at $35, which may include a strand test and goes toward the service if booked within 10 days or at the first available appointment.

Booking terms: a deposit of $50 to $100 is required for color and lightening, and $150 for corrective or transformation color, paid through Venmo and applied to the final service. Cancellations and changes need 48 hours' notice, and later changes may carry a fee of 50 to 100 percent of the service. Guests arriving more than 15 minutes late may have service shortened or rebooked. Children and pets are not allowed during appointments, and extra guests wait in the building's common area. Cash, check, Venmo, Zelle and credit cards are accepted; cards carry a 3% processing fee and some Venmo transactions carry 1.9% plus $0.10.
