Nordic House Spa

Nordic House Spa is run by Miechelle, a massage therapist who works from a private residence in Carmichael. Visits are arranged by appointment and the setting is calm and spa-like, with each visit planned around the Danish idea of hygge. Wellness is the focus whether a client is coming in for stress relief or for an oncology session.

The studio's core work is supportive care for people living with cancer and lymphedema. Oncology massage is offered to people in active treatment and to long-term survivors, and it is adjusted for pressure and direction. It can be modified for clients with ports, low immunity, low blood cell counts, or other effects of treatment. Lymphedema care covers manual lymphatic drainage, bandaging, garment advice and measurement, and guidance on exercise and skin care. Complete Decongestive Therapy is available for lymphedema clients.

Plastic surgery aftercare is offered for elective, reconstructive, lipedema and gender-affirming surgery recovery. It combines lymphatic drainage, scar tissue massage, cupping and vibration techniques. Recovery begins with an intake session before the first treatment, and a tailored plan follows. Wellness MLD is a separate service for detox and general well-being, and it is not offered as a substitute for lymphedema, cancer survivor or post-surgery care. Therapeutic massage, which can include Swedish, reflexology, sports massage, deep-tissue work and myofascial release, is tailored to each client.

Some policies apply. Breast tissue massage requires a referral from a medical professional, as required by the California Massage Therapy Council. Incisional draining, including pushing fluids out of open incisions, is outside the owner's scope of practice. Clients who have had surgery are advised to see a therapist who is also a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Gift cards are available, and a 10% discount on LIPOELASTIC compression garments is available with a voucher.

The studio says it focuses on safe, informed post-operative care within California's scope of practice, and on giving clients both treatment and information to support their recovery.
