After it was converted to apartments and sat empty for a time, Kyle and Nicole Vanboxel bought the property and turned it into the salon. Nicole Vanboxel opened Nickel's Cabin Cuts with her husband Kyle after wanting her own salon for many years. Before that she worked about five years at Best Cuts in Middlefield, Ohio, and about four years at Jennifer's Hair Obsession in Middlefield. The salon is family-owned and sets out to serve men, women and children under one roof. The interior has a rustic, cabin-style feel. Clients can book haircuts, color, nails, lashes and brows, and ear piercing, and the salon sells its own shampoos, conditioners, styling products and soaps.
