Nicholas James & Co. is a hair studio in St. Louis run by owner and stylist Nicholas James and co-owner and stylist Sydney Hinck, with stylists Dani Flores and Zach Taylor on the team. Color is a focus. Nicholas James specializes in dimensional color and custom shapes, and the menu includes partial and full head highlights, a transformative color appointment, grey blending with a haircut, and root touch-ups for existing clients. New color services require a consultation booked first, so the stylist can plan the work before the appointment.

Cuts range from a short haircut with clippers on the sides and scissors on top, to a dry cut, a medium-length cut, and a long cut for hair past the shoulders. Several cuts include shampoo and styling, and a beard-trim option is available with a short cut. Blowouts are offered in a round-brush style or with an iron or air wrap.

Smoothing options include a keratin treatment that lasts four to six months and a keratin fusion extension consultation. Hair consultations are available to talk through the desired look before booking a service.

Booking requires a non-refundable deposit to hold an appointment. Cancelling with less than 24 hours' notice keeps the deposit and adds a charge for the difference up to half the service price, and a no-show keeps the deposit and is charged the difference up to the full price. Buy Now, Pay Later is available in person for bookings from $50 to $4,000, subject to approval before the appointment.

The studio says it is an authorized dealer for its hair products, though the brands are not named.
