Neptune Skin Care

Neptune Skin Care opened in 2012 and is run by Jeska Manuel, a licensed master esthetician who founded the studio and owns it. The studio works one client at a time in a private setting, so each visit gets individual attention.

Visits start with a custom facial, either a one-hour session focused on the face or a one-hour-and-twenty-minute Custom Deluxe Treatment that also covers the neck and décolleté. The Deluxe option is recommended for new clients. Depending on time, a facial may combine microdermabrasion, LED light therapy, facial massage, a light peel, ultrasound, high-frequency, fruit enzymes, extractions, masks and vitamin serums. Brow waxing or tinting can be added when booking.

Corrective peels are the studio's other main offering. A light peel takes 20 to 30 minutes, needs no consultation and can be added to the Deluxe Treatment at no extra cost. Mid-depth and deep peels are for prior clients only, and new clients need a consultation, included with a facial, before booking either one. Peels are built on glycolic acid, Hibiscus sabdariffa flower acid and fruit enzymes. They do not go below the epidermis and are not medical-strength. Some clients complete a single peel, while others work through a series, and the number varies by person.

Clients receive written post-care instructions after a peel, with a daily cleanser, moisturizer and sunblock recommended and specialty products optional. The studio asks clients to stay out of the sun for at least 7 to 10 days after a peel, to avoid picking, and to hold off on exfoliants for a time. Downtime depends on the peel: a light peel usually causes no visible flaking, a mid-depth peel usually causes light flaking within two to three days, and a deep peel usually begins peeling three to four days after treatment, with renewal taking about a week to ten days.

The boutique carries products from the studio's partner brands, which the studio says are all cruelty-free and made in the U.S.A. The studio says it tests each product and keeps only its favorites within each brand. Items include a 4 oz SPF 30 daily sunscreen, a brightening scrub and a soothing gel cleanser.
