About

The school is licensed and regulated under the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, and its nail, esthetics, cosmetology and waxing programs are state-licensed. Its courses are built around the state board exams: graduates must pass both the theory and practical tests to be licensed, and students who finish receive a certificate of completion along with state board paperwork. State board prep is free for enrolled students and carries a fee for other applicants.

Training pairs classroom theory with hands-on practice and personalized instruction. The nail program covers infection control, manicures, pedicures, gel and acrylic application, nail art, electric filing, fill-ins and balancing, along with anatomy, monomer and polymer, UV gel work, business skills and marketing. The esthetician program covers facials, waxing, body treatments, makeup, lash extensions and skin analysis, and it prepares students for salons, medical spas and doctor's offices. The wax program covers many body areas and teaches threading, sugaring, and hard and soft wax; its theory portion can be taken online, while hands-on work happens in the classroom.

Students can choose day, evening, weekend, full-time or part-time schedules. Nail classes start every Tuesday and esthetician classes start every three weeks. The student salon, staffed by students and licensed professionals, offers discounted services performed under the close supervision of licensed instructors. Junior students in the early stages offer basic services at a relaxed pace with longer service times, while senior students nearing completion offer more advanced techniques, so timing can vary and clients on a tight schedule are advised to confirm with the instructor or choose professional services.

Tuition is handled through payment plans that start with a minimum down payment for each course. The school accepts GI Bill benefits, lists MyCAA approval for military families, and accepts Spouse Works, with interested students asked to contact the school directly. It does not accept financial aid at this time, and it takes money orders, cashier's checks, credit cards and cash. Enrollment requires notarized forms, a 2x2 passport photo, two forms of identification and payment.

The school also runs Polished Pathways, a workforce and re-entry certification program for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women. It was founded and is led by Tricia P. Turner, the school director. The program offers workforce and entrepreneurship tracks, including career readiness, job placement coordination, business foundations and mentorship, and it says graduates complete it with state-recognized professional certifications.

Combines hands-on practice and theory with personalized instruction, and describes its programs as portable careers designed to limit job disruption for military families who relocate.

The school describes its learning environment as safe, inclusive and supportive, with small class sizes.
