Mushy's Hair is run by its owner stylist, Mushy, from a suite on Cypress Creek Parkway in Houston. The work centers on braiding and protective styles, along with natural hair care for clients with many hair types, lengths and textures.

The menu is grouped into braids, locs, maintenance, natural hairstyles, silk press, styling, quick weaves and wig installs. Braids cover knotless, boho knotless, Bora Bora boho braids, island twists, tribal braids, straight backs, lemonade braids, braided ponytails and miracle knots. Most braid services include a wash, steam treatment, deep conditioning, a scalp massage and a blow dry, and hair is included in most braid services, with the client choosing the color when booking.

Booking is done through the online page, and appointments run from 30 minutes to more than seven hours depending on the style. Clients who want a style that is not on the menu can ask through the contact page. A $30 non-refundable deposit is charged to a valid card on file for every booking and goes toward the total, with boho services requiring a higher deposit. Remaining balances are paid by cash or Zelle, and Cash App, Apple Pay and Venmo payments carry a $10 fee. The studio is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 7 pm and is closed on weekends.
