TRENDZ by Tammy has operated as a commission salon for 25 years and later began offering booth rental spaces to independent hairstylists at the Rosalie Street location. The salon opened its second location at 3125 Rosalie Street in August 2018. The salon describes itself as serving Houston women for over 30 years, and as one of the best black hair salons in Houston.

Services are by appointment only, and a convenience fee applies. Listed prices are estimates. The stylist confirms the exact price after evaluating your hair and before any service begins, and extra length or thickness may cost more. Fees are collected before a service starts, and credit card payments require a photo ID. Children are allowed in the salon only when they are being serviced.

The menu is broad. Braiding covers cornrows with or without shampoo and braid takedowns. Chemical services include relaxers, relaxer retouches, Jheri curls, hair coloring and a keratin treatment made without formaldehyde. Color runs from semi-permanent to permanent whole-head work, along with highlights, lowlights and tips. Cuts range from edge-ups and trims to pixie cuts, natural hair cuts and precision layering.

Natural and textured hair has its own menu: dreadlock starts, re-twists, detox and styling, two strand twists, flat twists, finger-waves, up-dos and blowouts, plus Wave Nouveau perms and spot perms. Relaxed hair is covered by shampoo and set packages, including roller sets, marcel curling, soft curls and waves, straw sets and silk press.
