Mujtaba Clinic

The practice traces its beginnings to 1982, when Dr. Gholam and Kay Mujtaba opened their first pharmacy in New York City. Today it operates three locations and affiliated clinics under the Mujtaba Clinic name, including Stat Primary NP Clinic in North Bergen, New Jersey. The Clifton office sits across from City Hall, the Paterson office is about two blocks from St. Joseph's Hospital and has a private patient entrance and free parking on Chadwick Street, and the Corona, Queens office serves surrounding neighborhoods such as Jackson Heights, Elmhurst and Flushing. Primary care serves adults and children and covers physical exams, sick visits, screenings, vaccines and ongoing management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Thyroid concerns, insulin resistance and prediabetes are also addressed. School, sports and work physicals are available, with documentation provided the same day. Women's health services include Pap and HPV screening, hormone testing, a PCOS diagnostic panel, birth control and thyroid and metabolic screening. The clinic states that its women's health services are limited to testing, screening, evaluation and wellness, with no obstetrics or pregnancy care. Confidential STD testing covers HIV, herpes, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomonas and a hepatitis panel. Lab work is drawn on site and processed through Quest and Labcorp, and telehealth follow-ups are offered, including at Paterson.

Urgent walk-in care needs no appointment and welcomes adults and children on the same day. Providers treat colds, flu, sore throat, ear infections, asthma and allergies, urinary tract infections, abdominal pain, skin infections and breathing concerns. Minor injuries are handled too, including cuts closed with stitches, medical glue or staples, sprains, muscle strains, and sports injuries. Back pain treatment, prescription options for migraine symptoms, and COVID-19 testing are also available, along with care for work injuries.

The weight loss program is physician guided and includes a consultation, a personalized plan, nutrition and lifestyle support, medical monitoring and support for emotional eating. Medication options include FDA-approved GLP-1 injections such as Zepbound, Mounjaro, Wegovy and semaglutide, and the Paterson location also lists phentermine and tirzepatide. Metabolic testing is part of the program. The clinic also offers compounded weight loss medications; the clinic notes these are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed for safety, effectiveness or manufacturing. The clinic describes its weight loss programs as effective.

Aesthetic services include neurotoxin injections of Botox, Dysport and Daxxify for frown lines, crow's feet and forehead lines, and a monthly Botox plan starting at $100 per month. Dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, Versa and Radiesse are used for facial wrinkles, hollow areas and lips, and liquid rhinoplasty with fillers is offered. RF microneedling for skin tightening, pen microneedling with PRP and medical chemical peels are also available. The clinic says RF microneedling is offered exclusively at its Clifton location and describes its Genius RF system as clinically validated. Venus Bliss MAX body contouring, also called BlissMax, combines laser lipolysis, EMS muscle toning and RF energy for body contouring, cellulite reduction and skin tightening after weight loss, and is offered in Clifton and Corona.

Hair restoration covers PRP for men and women with thinning hair or early hair loss, available in Clifton and Corona, and robotic hair transplantation with ARTAS. Transplant options include FUE and FUT techniques, NeoGraft, and beard, mustache and eyebrow transplants. Consultations take place in Clifton and procedures are performed at the Queens location. IV infusion therapy offers hydration with fluids, electrolytes and vitamins. Men's health includes testosterone replacement therapy, testosterone pellet therapy for eligible male patients at Queens, hormone panels, PSA blood tests and metabolic testing.

Which insurers are accepted depends on the location. Medicaid, Medicare and most major private plans are among those taken, including Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Fidelis, WellCare, Amerigroup and MagnaCare. Coverage is the patient's to confirm beforehand, though the clinic will send claims on their behalf as a courtesy. Uninsured patients can pay on their own, with flexible payment plans available, and the Paterson location offers reduced self-pay rates. Aesthetic procedures can be paid for with Klarna, Affirm, CareCredit, Afterpay, Cash App or major credit and debit cards. Payment is collected when the visit takes place. Anyone who needs to change or cancel a booking should do so more than a day ahead to avoid a $45 charge. Services and purchased products, such as skincare, supplements and prescription items, are not refundable. Bilingual staff are on hand, including Spanish speakers. The clinic also takes part in community work, offering health education, free health screenings and local charity events.

The clinic says it places patients at the center of its care, with personalized treatment and support. During sick visits, the practitioner reviews health history and asks about current symptoms and how long they have lasted.
