Ms. Opal's Wig Boutique

The boutique treats choosing a wig as a personal decision rather than a quick retail purchase. It is run by appointment only, with no walk-ins or unscheduled browsing, and shopping is not allowed while another client is in a private appointment, so each visit has the fitting room to itself.

Most clients start with a one-hour consultation to narrow down a wig or hairpiece. A second appointment covers cutting, styling, and sizing so the piece is fitted to the client, and haircuts and styling are included with every unit bought from the boutique. Most clients need two appointments in total, and human hair wigs that need coloring or extra customization usually take two to three.

The boutique stocks wigs and toppers made from human hair, blended fibers, and synthetic fiber, sourced from brands including Ellen Wille, Jon Renau, Envy, Fair Fashion, Rene of Paris, Amore, Noriko, Raquel Welch, Gabor, Henry Margu, and TressAllure. Pieces not on the shelf can be ordered for a client. According to the business, its wigs are premium, look natural, and are hard to tell apart from real hair.

Coloring is available only for human hair units bought in the store, because factory-dyed units can take color unpredictably. Wig washing is done by appointment: the wig is dropped off and returned in about 2 to 5 days, and servicing is offered only for units purchased at the boutique.

Insurance is not billed directly. Staff guide clients through the reimbursement process, and some insurance companies recognize the boutique as a medical wig provider. Documentation is available, but coverage varies by plan.

The $35 consultation fee is applied toward any purchase. It is refundable with cancellation at least 24 hours ahead and valid for 30 days from the appointment date; later cancellations and missed appointments are non-refundable. Sales are final once a purchase leaves the store and no cash refunds are given. A one-time exchange for store credit is available for unworn, unaltered units that stay in the store, with restocking fees possible, and store credit must be used within 30 days. The boutique is closed on Mondays and Sundays.
