Every visit starts with a consultation covering the guest's hair, lifestyle and the maintenance they want. Stylists explain the recommended services, the upkeep involved and the expected price before work begins. Final pricing is confirmed at the consultation, since hair length, density, condition and the desired result all affect time. Before the guest leaves, stylists go over home care, recommended products and when to book next.

The salon describes itself as a place where one stylist trains the next. Every stylist completes the Mouton's Protégé Program regardless of previous experience, and the team attends quarterly learning sessions along with product demonstrations from manufacturing partners every other month. Teresa McGaha continues to work behind the chair and serves as the salon's educator.

Appointments are requested through the online form, but a request does not reserve a time. Urgent questions and same-day requests should go to the salon directly. Guests can add photographs to an appointment request, and services can be given in a private setting when requested for cultural, religious, personal or other reasons. The salon is closed on Mondays.
