Modish Salon and Spa is on South Halleck Street in Demotte. It is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and it is closed on Sundays. Late appointments are available on request. If none of the listed times work, clients are asked to call 219-987-1111 to book.

About

Color is a large part of the menu. Options include all-over color (from $80), one-color touch-ups for outgrowth (from $65), full or partial highlights and lowlights (from $110 and $80), and balayage, a freehand painted lightness that softens toward the ends (from $130). Highlight and lowlight services can be priced separately or combined. Toner, at $30, balances unwanted tones or enhances the finish. Color correction starts at $150 and takes about four hours. Add-on touch-up color and all-over color can be added to a foiling service.

The Clear Skin For Life program is for clients dealing with acne. It begins with a $50 consultation that assesses acne type and sensitivity. Clients can also buy an acne kit, priced at about $145 to $150, with six products and an ice roller. Treatment appointments are 30 minutes long, held every two weeks for three months, at $50 each, and include a peel or enzyme treatment, extractions and high-frequency. Clients need to be off acne medications for two weeks before starting, and should avoid other over-the-counter products during the program. The products are used morning and night exactly as instructed and are changed every two weeks.

Facials are built around The Modish Facial at $85, which the salon describes as a good option for a first visit and customizable for all skin types. It includes a consultation, double cleanse, steam, enzyme exfoliation, extractions if needed, a mask, toner, serums, moisturizer and SPF, plus a scalp, neck, shoulder, hand and arm massage and product suggestions for home. Variations include the Modish Peel Facial at $95 (a peel in place of enzyme exfoliation), the Modish Microderm at $110 (microdermabrasion with crushed diamonds and suction), and the Modish Dermaplane at $130 (dermaplaning with a sterile surgical blade). A $10 Modish Peel add-on and a $55 microcurrent add-on can be added to any Modish Facial. Two 30-minute options are priced at $60 each: the Modish Facial Express, focused on exfoliation, and the Modish Microcurrent Express. The Modish Back Facial, also $60, includes a back massage. Massage is offered to female clients only, and prenatal massage is not offered. It is currently open to established clients, with new clients able to join a waitlist or cancellation list. Sessions run from 30 to 90 minutes, at $45 to $125.

Extension services begin with a free 30-minute consultation, which is required before installation. Installation is priced by consultation and takes about five hours. Wefts per row are $90, move-ups are $40 and weft removal is $20. Tape-ins, K-tips and I-tips are $75 per hour each, and Bond Fusion is $75. A scalp detox is $50 and a wash and style is $35. Wedding services include bridal trial hair at $60, wedding day hair at $110, bridesmaid hair at $90, flower girl hair at $40, mother styles at $60 and mother updos at $90. Bridal makeup includes custom skin preparation, a full look, airbrush, custom lashes and a lip touch-up kit. Bridesmaid and mother makeup is $95, junior bridesmaid makeup is $60 for ages 9 to 13, and flower girl makeup is free. Wedding makeup covers four to five people per artist, and larger parties need a second artist. On-location services require at least four people, with a $1.25 per mile travel fee for bookings outside Demotte. The salon can also be rented for weddings at $300, including beverages and a light breakfast.
