Memengwaa was founded in 2022 by Andréa Mororo and describes itself as a collective of curl artists, colorists, skincare specialists and makers. The studio says it is Indigenous and Latin owned, and that its name reflects inner joy, authenticity and personal growth.

The studio runs as an open, collaborative space rather than a conventional salon. It says it wants to share knowledge about curl care, build long-term relationships with guests, and rethink beauty standards by honoring each person's individual roots and culture.

Booking happens through the Book page on the website. New appointments are released one month ahead, on the first of each month, and a deposit reserves a spot and counts toward the service. Hair services need at least two hours. Clients are asked to arrive with hair washed, gently detangled with conditioner and air dried with little or no product, and not wet.

The artists also travel to other cities, and visit dates are announced on Instagram and the email newsletter.

The studio describes its approach as eco-conscious, with a minimal carbon footprint, and says it values community over competition.
