Susanne Kende owns the salon and works as its Master Stylist. She began her career in 1984 and says she is one of the only multi-trained stylists in San Diego who works exclusively on curls. Her clients include people who have struggled to manage their curls and people who want to bring out their natural texture. She teaches each client how to care for their own hair as part of every service, and she has stayed committed to continuing education.

Every new client books the First Time Appointment, even someone who has had a curl cut somewhere else. The visit takes about three hours and covers a curl analysis, a dry cut, a hair detox, wash and styling instruction, and education on care at home. A consultation with a stylist is suggested before booking so the group can talk through which care plan fits. Clients are asked to arrive freshly washed and styled with their usual products, with dry, untangled curls and no ponytails, headbands or hats. Guests are not allowed at appointments, though a parent may stay with a minor who is being served. Appointments are booked through the stylist's GlossGenius page, and each stylist's pricing may differ.

Each service is tailored to the person's curl pattern, texture, shape and curl health, and clients leave knowing how to maintain their hair at home.
