Mayday Skincare was created in late 2018 and operates from Suite 503 at the Salon Republic Burbank Mall, near Burlington on the third level. Free parking is available, and the East Garage at 501 N. 3rd Street is the easiest way in. The studio is open Sunday through Thursday.

Katie, the esthetician, has a 12-year background in skin care. She started working as an esthetician at 30. Earlier, she held a management role at Face Haus, which is described as LA's first facial bar, and she trained at esthetician school to deepen her knowledge of skin.

Most facials use Eminence Organics products. The studio also uses PCA, Circadia, Hylunia, Bio Therapeutic, Esthemax and Dermalogica. The Mayday Signature Facial is a 60-minute basic facial at $125 that includes a double cleanse, light enzyme, extractions, a mask, cool globes, a neck and decollete massage, serums, moisturizer and SPF, and it is suitable for teens. Expert facials run 60 minutes at $150 or 90 minutes at $175; the esthetician chooses the exfoliation or treatment for that day's skin, and the 90-minute version always includes LED. The Dermaplane Facial is 90 minutes at $185 and uses a sterile scalpel to remove vellus hair and dead skin cells. The Rezenerate Nano-Infusion Facial takes 65 to 70 minutes at $165 and is a non-invasive option that the studio says pushes product 40% to 50% deeper than hand application, aimed at fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, tone and texture. The Everything Facial is a 120-minute service at $250 with deeper exfoliation, eye and lip treatments, lymphatic massage, a hydrojelly mask, scalp massage, LED and an oxygen blast. PCA peel facials start at $75 and run 20 to 60 minutes, addressing acne, aging and hyperpigmentation; a stand-alone PCA peel is also offered.

The salon describes itself as a safe space for everyone. Teens can receive facials when they are willing participants, and a parent or guardian must be present and sign an intake form. Facials can be adjusted for pregnant and breastfeeding clients.
